Your Fate in Your Hands

Safe driving should be rewarded. That's Allstate's stand, and that's why we've created AllstateTeenDriver.com — to teach teens safe driving tips and techniques.

While teens may receive driving instruction in a school, at home, and of course in everyday practice, we decided to challenge new teen drivers to learn the rules of the road with interactive courses and game-like experiences.

More and more, teens are faced with multiple distractions while driving — distractions that statistics show increase the likelihood of risky driving behavior and the occurrence of accidents. We'd like to change that reality.

Pop-up facts (I had no idea!)

In 2009, The Allstate Foundation surveyed more than 1,000 teens (ages 15 to 17 years old) for an in-depth look at the driving attitudes, behavior, and issues facing teen drivers as they begin their on-the-road experience. Critical survey findings include:

Graduated Driver Licensing

Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) Laws are licensing programs created to protect new drivers and help them obtain hands-on experience under lower-risk conditions. These laws work too — they've been proven to save lives.

Typically, graduated driver licensing laws contain provisions for extended periods of adult supervision during learner phases, restrictions on late-night driving and driving with other teen passengers, as well as mandated seat belt use. However, each state is different — check the laws in your state.

Choose your state to learn more about your specific GDL laws.

As a YOUNG driver, Jason Wade of Lifehouse lost a good friend in a car accident and was inspired to write "From Where You Are" for Allstate as a way to get parents and teens talking about responsible driving.

Let's Make This Generation Pledge to X the TXT

An epidemic is sweeping across America, causing drivers everywhere to black out for five seconds at a time. It's called texting and driving.

  1. It takes your eyes off the road for an average of 5 seconds. At 55 mph, that's like driving the length of a football field — completely blind.1
  2. It's like driving after having four bottles of beer.2
  3. It can make you 23 times more likely to crash.3
  4. Car crashes kill an average of 11 teens each day.4
  5. Distracted driving injures 330,000 people every year.5
